Gloucester-Hartpury's winning streak continues, while Leicester Tigers face a tough season. The Premiership Women's Rugby season is underway, and the defending champions, Gloucester-Hartpury, are off to a flying start, securing a hard-fought 29-28 victory against Trailfinders.
Trailfinders put up a valiant fight, staging a comeback after being down 29-14 in the 62nd minute. However, despite their late efforts, they couldn't quite snatch the win.
The match saw Alana Borland score an early try, giving Trailfinders the initial lead. Gloucester-Hartpury then responded with tries from Jade Shekells, Neve Jones, and Kate Williams, establishing a 19-7 lead by halftime. Sarah Beckett's two tries, along with one from Vicky Laflin of Trailfinders, proved crucial in the end. Borland and Niamh Gallagher added further tries for Trailfinders in a late push, but two converted tries weren't enough to overturn the score.
This victory extends Gloucester-Hartpury's impressive winning streak to 17 consecutive PWR games, dating back to last season. Their dominance spans over a year!
Meanwhile, Exeter Chiefs, currently in second place, also had a successful day, defeating Bristol Bears with a score of 41-10.
And this is the part most people miss... Leicester Tigers are at the bottom of the table and are yet to earn any points. They suffered a 56-28 defeat at home against Harlequins.
