A gas leak triggered an explosion in a residential flat near Hyderi in North Nazimabad, igniting a fire on the building’s 10th floor early on Sunday, according to officials.
Fire services said the blast originated from gas leakage inside the flat. Police confirmed the explosion occurred on the 10th floor.
Two fire engines were dispatched and engaged in extinguishing the flames, with a snorkel apparatus also brought to the scene to assist the operation.
Rescue authorities reported that a woman and a young girl sustained injuries, presumed to be from a cylinder blast, and were transported to a hospital for treatment.
The Inspector General of Police for Sindh directed officers to reach the location immediately and assigned the SSP Central to supervise the rescue efforts, while also ordering steps to evacuate residents safely from the building.
This is a developing story and additional details will be provided as they become available.
