Luna Gelato: Authentic Italian Gelato in New Farm, Brisbane! (Review) (2026)

Get ready for a gelato experience like no other! In the heart of New Farm, a vibrant neighborhood known for its culinary delights, a new gelato joint has emerged, and it's a game-changer. Luna Gelato is a boutique venture that will transport your taste buds to the streets of Florence, Italy.

But here's where it gets intriguing: Luna Gelato is not just another branch of the popular Rosé Gelateria. It's a unique concept crafted by the same creators, Bronson Tucker and Diana Prinz, who wanted to explore new horizons and create an authentic Italian experience.

The journey began in 2024 when Tucker and Prinz started discussions with the agents, envisioning a gelato shop that would complement the sleek New Farm retail and dining precinct. "We knew they wanted gelato, but we wanted to offer something unique and fitting for the area," Tucker explains.

And unique it is! Luna Gelato has bid farewell to the usual accompaniments found at Rosé, such as macarons and cookies, to focus solely on gelato and a selection of sorbets. The owners took their passion to the next level by traveling to Florence in 2023 to master traditional gelato-making techniques.

This expertise is evident in Luna's design. Instead of a conventional gelato cabinet, they've opted for 22 stainless steel pozzetti, similar to those found at La Macelleria and Gelato Messina. These pozzetti are the real deal, preserving the gelato's texture and maintaining the perfect temperature for each flavor.

"It was a bold move, but it felt right," Tucker says. "New Farm has a rich Italian heritage, and we wanted to honor that with an authentic experience.

The rest of the venue, designed by Space Cubed, is a sleek and simple affair, with a curved stainless steel counter, maroon accents, and exposed concrete ceilings. The flavors are showcased on a cute clipboard setup, adding a touch of visual appeal.

Luna offers a range of regular flavors, including cookie crumble, white chocolate raspberry, and pistachio praline, along with seasonal delights like earl grey and biscuits and a creative twist on Cadbury's Marvellous Creations called Marvelluna. You'll also find gelato shakes, the classic cone-or-cup dilemma, and a small selection of merch.

"Our previous ventures gave us the confidence to go all in with Luna," Tucker adds. "The response has been fantastic, and we're thrilled to be part of the buzz in New Farm.

So, if you're craving an authentic Italian gelato experience, Luna Gelato is your destination. And this is the part most people miss: it's not just about the gelato; it's about the entire sensory journey. So, will you give it a try? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
